Failure to match

Sometimes it is your worst enemy that makes your heart beat the fastest.

The Ugly Truth:

A romance book? What a shock! However, instead of my recent reviews, this one ACTUALLY was worth the hype. Why? Because it finally captured that enemies-to-lovers vibe I was so desperately craving.

I feel like a lot of authors these days take the bully romance a smidge too far, leaving me questioning how the heck two people so clearly not meant for one another possibly end up working it out. It lacks true emotion and is way too overpowered by aggressive dialogue or literal bodily attacks that make me cringe in the worst ways. However, in Failure to Match, Jamie and Jackson took the heat of their romance to burn the edges of the bad in just the right way to make this a scorchingly sweet read.

Jamie Paquin, an adorably hilarious and creative professional matchmaker, brought life and love to every page she was mentioned on. I felt that her character was incredibly relatable in the 21st century, down to her crushes on famous chefs and her desire for a happy ending. Jackson Sinclair was an ideal millionaire romance bachelor candidate, who show his love in such painful ways, it hurt to hear the eventual truth of his past come to light.

The chemistry between the two was light and playful at the start, filled with funny banter and playful battles that left me giggling and desperate for me. The relationship continue to grow in a very realistic way that as a reader, I felt very involved in the changes of the tides and was rooting for their success by 30%. However, I appreciated the fact that the author did not satiate the desperate need for their success right away, but instead worked on developing their personalities and backgrounds more to show true change and development.

Overall, this was exactly what I needed when I needed it, and I recommend this to all those craving an actual good billionaire romance book.
